Shipyard General/Operations Manager(s) Puglia Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking multiple Shipyard General/Operations Managers for its Puglia Engineering, Inc. is a full service ship repair and facilities support company, supporting vessel repair activities and facilities programs throughout the The Shipyard Operations Manager Responsibilities and Skills; � Setting the production priorities and ensuring the production objectives of the shipyard are reached. � Profit and loss for current and upcoming projects from initial planning through invoice collection. � Develop and maintain budgets. � Lead Production Team and coordinate work of Shipyard to ensure work is done safely, man hours are scheduled properly, objectives are met and deadlines honored. � Establish and maintain sound working relationships with customers and contractors, consistent with the best interests of the company. � Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects at once and be capable of handling stressful situations tactfully and remain in control. � Ability to work independently and as a team member. � Knowledgeable on ISO 9001 quality standards and on government regulations on Shipyard operations, occupational health, safety and environmental compliance. � Contract management, change orders, adherence to Shipyard’s standard terms and conditions. � Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. � Produce documentation and reports as and when required. � PC literate, knowledgeable in MS Word, Excel � Self motivated, proactive and result orientated � Ability to work within a union environment � Ensure all projects are managed and performed in accordance with the design specifications and to the USCG / ABS/NAVY standards. � Coordinates all activities with General Manager, Estimating Manager, Project Managers, Purchasing Manager, QA Inpsectors, Human Resources Department and Accounting. � Ability to read and comprehend work specifications, work orders, blueprints, contracts and technical publications. Experience Required: � A minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible experience in the ship construction and repair industry. � Three years of project management, working with construction superintendents, craft supervisors, port engineers, vessel owners and support department managers. � Experience and extensive knowledge of ship structures, equipment and machinery. � Project contract and change order negotiating experience. � Legal and marine insurance matters preferred � Government contracting experience, preferred Qualifications: � A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and post secondary business or technical training required or certification in project management, contract management or current license as a marine engineer. Naval and/or USCG backgrounds a plus. Further education up to and including a Bachelors degree in business management or a technical specialty preferred.
